GWCAFest

Hi Everyone:

GWCAFest is fast approaching !

For our musical program we will be entertained by the dulcet sounds of Lisa B all afternoon.

At 2 PM on stage we will feature the music renderings of Becca & Zach. These young people are from the neighborhood and love to perform some of their original works.

Of course Gil Munoz will keep fill our ears with his vast and eclectic musical selections when our live performers need a break.

All in all its shaping up to be a fun filled GWCAFest.

Don’t forget the pet parade starts at 11:45 at the corner of Greenview and Cullom. A valuable prize will be awarded to the top costume. Red White and Blue is the theme this year.

See you on September 10.

PS: We could use some middle and high school volunteers to run the games. So any tweens and teens looking for a fun time come on by and help with the games.

Thanks and be well.

Well Folks GWCAfest is shaping up and we have some exciting things planned.

For the kids we’ll have the pony rides and petting zoo and the usual assortment of great games and activities.

For adults, we will have the wine tasting. This year we invite you to bring a bottle of wine to share in the tasting and get tickets in exchange.

Magic by Randy will be performing at three. Randy always puts on a great show; he tells me he has some new amazing tricks.

Mark will serve up his delicious sausage, corn and Mac and cheese.

Our bake table cannot be missed its amongst the best in Chicago. Bring your bake goods to Rose during the fest and try some of your neighbors treats.

Lake View High School assistance needed on painting their school fence.

Dear GWCA,

We are the new 47th Ward Alderman’s office at 4243 N. Lincoln Avenue.

We were recently contacted by Lake View High School for assistance on
painting their school fence. Unfortunately they do not have the budget
to do this so our office is helping to coordinate a community
volunteer day there.

We are also reaching out to local youth to help paint this
fence. I don’t yet have the details of date and scope of the project
but should be getting this soon from the school officials.

Memorial service for Art Geranios

Hi all,

Thanks everyone for getting back to me with your preferred dates.  It looks like the best timing for the greatest number of people will be Sunday, July 17th at 5pm.

Ann Maxwell confirmed that the GWCA Garden Walk dinner will not be taking place at Warner Park, so we will plan to get together there.  If the weather is bad, we’re happy to host everyone at our house.

I have no set thoughts on how to best memorialize Art except that I’m certain that the idea of having his friends and neighbors get together with food and drink to remember him would please him greatly.  To that end, I’m happy to organize tables, paper goods and drinks and will plan on bringing some finger food.  If anyone else is able to bring food, that would be a great help!

If anyone has thoughts about how to best memorialize Art, please feel free to share them.  The kids of Cullom Ave. may want to do something themselves to remember him.  I’ll touch base with some of the kids to see if they’re interested in writing something to read or have a song to sing.

PLEASE pass the word on to anyone in the neighborhood who would like to attend.  If anyone sees Rick, the mailman, please extend an invitation to him.

Thanks and looking forward to seeing you all!

Sharon Langshur
