GWCA Mtg + Presentation by Botanist Kelsay Shaw – Native Shrubs for Chicago +

June 26, 2019 @ 6:45 pm - 8:00 pm

Botanist Kelsay Shaw, https://www.possibilityplace.com/about-us/our-staff, will discuss Native Shrubs to plant in Chicago and planting for Monarch butterflies and the environment. GWCA is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. We’ll also celebrate Summer Solstice, restoration of the GWCA Demonstration Parkway Corner S/W corner of Belle Plaine & Greenview and the new planter and native plants at Rizal. Both of these plantings provide bird, bat, rusty patched bumblebee (endangered), butterfly and beneficial insect habitat AND each absorbs about 2,000 gallons of stormwater annually.

As a 40th Anniversary member thank you, we’ll give a pollinator plant to attending GWCA member households and new member households (though supplies are limited). We hope you can join us. Rizal has free parking.
