Here is an update from the Chicago Police Department – 19th District

Dear Neighbor,

Here is an update from the Chicago Police Department – 19th District:

At about 1:20 this morning, a 29 year-old man was shot and killed at Irving Park Road & Ashland Avenue. Initial reports say he was standing on the sidewalk with others near the home of a friend. Police believe the incident is gang related and the shooter fled in a large dark SUV. The Chicago police are still interviewing people who were with the man and the CPD will try to update everyone when new information becomes available.

Anyone with information or who may have private video footage should call the Area 3 detectives at 312-744-8261.

What the 47th Ward Public Service Office is doing:

We have been working with the Chicago Police Department to aggregate: graffiti reports, suspected gang hangouts, and problem buildings to coordinate efforts.

If you have information about any problems in the area (new graffiti, problem landlords, late night teen hangouts, etc.), please email or call Jim Poole at the 47th Ward Office: jim@chicago47.org or 773-868-4747 AND call the 19th District CAPS office at 312-744-5574.

Warm regards,

Ameya

Of course Gil Munoz will keep fill our ears with his vast and eclectic musical selections when our live performers need a break.

All in all its shaping up to be a fun filled GWCAFest.

Don’t forget the pet parade starts at 11:45 at the corner of Greenview and Cullom. A valuable prize will be awarded to the top costume. Red White and Blue is the theme this year.

See you on September 10.

PS: We could use some middle and high school volunteers to run the games. So any tweens and teens looking for a fun time come on by and help with the games.
