23 leaf cleanup volunteers made a big impact on GWCA street leaves yesterday despite bone chilling temperatures and snow.

Kristine and James, Brad, Paul, Bruce and Daniel, Josh, Jason, Janice, Greeta and Toby on Belle Plaine. Greeta, we’re sorry for missing the cookies you made for us. Thanks for cleaning mid block. The other 9 volunteers tackled 400′ of Belle Plaine including the Belle Plaine / Greenview intersection. Sewer drains were winter sealed under 4″ of concrete like matted and frozen leaves. Leaves had to be hacked with shovels to reveal drains or the street. Then each section of grate had to be chiseled of leaves and debris. Special thanks to Daniel, who at 8 brought much muscle, tenacity and sunshine.
