1) GWCA 8th Annual Street Leaf Cleanup Update: Please leave bagged street leaves on your parkway by 3 pm, today, Sunday, November 17, for our special annual city pickup tomorrow for composting. A small group of hardy GWCA Council Members, Block Reps and neighbors worked for two hours yesterday on the Belle Plaine and Greenview and Cuyler and Greenview intersections and cleared ice from sewer grates, crosswalks, the street and shoveled ice from sidewalks. Other neighbors did the same on their streets. Thank you to all who could help. Please help keep sidewalk and street leaves up to make for safer walking and less flooding.
2) GWCA and NNA both have ECO / Green Committees and are jointly sponsoring a Green Forum on Nov 19, 7 pm at Rizal, 1332 W Irving Park. Free Parking. The Forum will include discussion of the Illinois Clean Energy Jobs Act, Chicago Recycling, and the WasteShed, an innovative Chicago program that utilizes recycled materials. Speakers: State Representative Ann Williams, Mike Nowak, Radio Host and Chicago Recycling Coalition, Eleanor Ray, Executive Director, The WasteShed.
