GRACELAND WEST COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION “GWCA” 11-13-14:
If you live between Montrose, Irving Park, Clark and Ashland, you live in Graceland West, the northernmost portion of Lake View and your neighborhood association is GWCA. We were established in the late ‘70s. We all have many NEW NEIGHBORS and want all to sign up on https://nextdoor.com (“Nextdoor”), which is also an app and can be accessed anywhere. Additionally, “Everyblock” is another great site where you can register and connect with neighbors about the goings on in Graceland West; http://www.everyblock.com.
We typically have several Block Reps on each side of each block. But some people have had job transfers or retired and subsequently moved so WE NEED YOU to VOLUNTEER to be a BLOCK REP. This is a great way to meet your neighbors and get involved. I’m one of nine current GWCA Council Members and in charge of BLOCK REPS. We need people for Montrose, Pensacola, Cullom, Hutchinson, Warner, Belle Plaine, Cuyler, Irving Park, Ashland, Greenview, Southport and Clark. I am happy to set up a time to talk more about being a BLOCK REP and/or joining GWCA.
These are a few of the responsibilities for Block Reps:
1. Deliver flyers on your block or part of the block
2. Welcome new neighbors
3. Help with crime prevention education and membership drive
4. Be a Go-To person on your block and communicate issues to the GWCA Council.
5. Maintain communication contact info on your block
