Ashland Water Main Replacement update from Alderman Pawar

Dear Neighbor,

I want to update you on the water main replacement work taking place on Ashland Avenue.

Crews working on the replacement of the water main under northbound Ashland from Irving Park to Montrose are finishing their work, and will begin installing main north of Montrose. The closure of the northbound lanes of Ashland between Montrose and Lawrence will begin on Thursday, September 18th.

Crews working on the service transfers will finalize the main between Irving Park and Montrose by Thursday, 9/25.  Once their work is complete, the closure of northbound lanes between Irving Park and Montrose will be reopened.  Closures and parking restrictions are in effect M-F from 7am to 8pm.  Please note that the contractor will be pouring concrete from Irving Park to Berteau on Wednesday, September 16th.  Parking restrictions will extend to 24 hours in this section until the concrete cures.  Signage will be adjusted to reflect this extended restriction.

The crews are moving quickly, and we remain on schedule for completion before winter. Thank you for your patience as we continue this needed work.  Please follow all detour signs to Clark and avoid travel in this area, if possible. Our interactive ward infrastructure map will continue to be updated as crews make progress.

Please contact my office with any questions at or 773-868-4747.

GWCAFest this Saturday 12 to 5

Hello Everyone;

Hope to see you all on Saturday at Warner Park .  We have lots of activities planned all afternoon with the petting zoos and the bounce house, ponies, games and more.  The magic act begins at about 3:30.  This year’s act will be performed by Magician Jaime Aponte.  He must be good because Randy of Magic by Randy recommended him.  Randy sends his greetings and is sorry he can’t be with us this year.  But he hopes to do his act for us next year.

The community meeting will begin immediately after the magic show.  We need your input and may have a surprise speaker, who knows?

Music all day provided by the legendary Lisa B.

Our bake table needs filling, we have the finest bakers in town so bring your yummy treats to our table and try your neighbors its lots of fun.  And even if you dont bake and want to contribute there is always the Jewel.

This year Lakeview High School has allowed students to fulfill some of their public service credits by volunteering to help.  So the extra help will be greatly appreciated.

There will be brats and hotdogs and Mac and Cheese and Corn and soda and popcorn and all the stuff that is good.

There is so much more that you all must come and see and enjoy.  Oh and in the tradition of GWCAFest, please bring a chair or two…we may be short on chairs this year.

See you at Warner Park, on Warner Ave on Saturday noon to 5.
