32nd Annual GWCA Garden Walk

Rain didn’t deter intrepid Garden Walkers who visited gardens carrying umbrellas or wearing Seattle type rain gear on Sunday, August 3rd.  Mixed weather changed back and forth from comfortable and breezy with blue sky mixed with clouds to showers to drenching downpours.

40 gardens including the new rain gardens on the Berteau Greenway, Warner Park and Gardens and the Lake View High School Campus Park were featured.  The insect petting zoo was a hit with children.  Annual participation by the U of I Extension Services provides the neighborhood with an on site botanical resource.  (Is it rust or black knot?)

Principal Scot Grens provided an architectural tour of Lake View High School to over 20 at 2:30 and and a video was filmed.

GWCA began Business Memberships in July and our first two business members, Southport and Irving / SIP and ASADO Coffee offered discounts to Garden Walkers.
